Reds make qualifying offer to Choo, not Arroyo

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

The Cincinnati Reds have made a qualifying contract offer to free agent Shin-Soo Choo.

The Reds, however, did not make qualifying offers to free agents RHP Bronson Arroyo, LHP Zach Duke, IF Cesar Izturis, RHP Nick Masset or LHP Manny Parra.

Choo has seven days to accept or reject the club's offer. If Choo rejects the contract offer, he still can re-sign with the Reds. If Choo rejects the offer and signs with another team, the Reds will receive a compensation pick in the June 2014 first-year player draft.

The other 5 free agents also can re-sign with the Reds at any time.
