CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

The City of Cincinnati Winter Operations Team is getting prepared for the upcoming season.

The 2013-2014 Winter Operations Program will use a "systematic approach" for treating streets.

Public Service crews have been inspecting equipment, reviewing snow routes and receiving the weather forecasting equipment in order to have the most accurate weather data possible for approaching winter storms.

On Tuesday, the FOX19 Morning News will get a closer look at the equipment and materials that will be used all season long.

Traffic & Road Operations Superintendent Jarrod Bolden said city plans are based on efficiently routing snow treating equipment. The equipment is sent out based on weather predictions by local television networks like FOX19, and a variety of local and national weather forecasting services.

"We have a variety of equipment such as loaders, brine trucks and even pick-up trucks for the smaller streets. We use brine, beet juice, and salt to effectively rid our thoroughfares of debilitating ice and snow. Keeping our citizens mobile is our top priority."

The combination of equipment and the compounds used together for efficient removal of ice and snow.
