MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - Mobile fire-rescue officials say a hazmat team is working to clean up a stretch of Interstate 10 after an 18-wheeler carrying 7,500 gallons of diesel overturned on an exit ramp.
Mobile Fire-Rescue Department spokesman Steve Huffman told AL.com (http://bit.ly/1i6SrRhO ) Tuesday that the spill was contained within about half an hour.
Huffman says the exit ramp where the truck flipped has been closed, and he doesn't expect the cleanup effort to have an impact on traffic.
Huffman says the driver of the truck was able to get out on his own and has been taken to a local hospital.
Information on the cause of the crash wasn't immediately available. Officials were unsure of how much fuel the truck spilled onto the highway.
