Natick, MA (WSHM) -

CBS 3 Springfield was honored by the Massachusetts Broadcasters Association at its annual dinner in Natick Thursday night.

Meteorologist Nick Morganelli took first place in the on-air TV personality category.

Nick has been covering weather in New England for more than 25 years.

The MBA also gave first place to CBS 3 Springfield's "Pay it Forward" series in the best feature category.

The story that was honored can be seen here: http://www.cbs3springfield.com/video?clipId=8066530&autostart=true

The "Pay It Forward" program features inspiring stories of people helping their neighbors by nominating them to receive much-needed cash. This past December, CBS 3 viewers "paid it forward" to a mom facing aggressive breast cancer, a caregiver, an out-of-work mother with a child in neonatal intensive care and a family who had made several trips to the hospital to care for their daughter's unusual illness.

CBS 3 Springfield's coverage of the National Fallen Officers memorial in Washington D.C. received a merit award in the spot news category.

The Mass. Broadcasters Association was founded in 1954. The MBA is a voluntary trade association representing over 200 over-the-air broadcasters in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
