HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Huntsville police investigated a shooting involving an officer that happened Saturday morning.

Authorities said that around 5:45 a.m. on Saturday, an officer was on his way to work when a man, identified as Sabore Basden, 21, sped past him in a Ford truck. Investigators reported that the officer tried to pull Basden over, but the suspect kept going, turned onto Normandale Drive, drove through some fences, and then stopped at the 400 block of South Plymouth Road.

Police reported that the suspect then fled on foot, and the officer chased after him. Authorities reported that the suspect fired several shots at the officer, hitting the residence at 428 South Plymouth Road several times. Police said the officer fired back and hit Basden several times.

HEMSI transported Basden to Huntsville Hospital for treatment of his injuries. The officer was not injured.

Basden was arrested and charged with attempting to commit murder and discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling. This case is still under investigation.
