JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL (WBRC) -

A 54-year-old man from Center Point is accused of killing his girlfriend and wounding her sister in a shooting near Pinson on Sunday.

Cedric Devon Lowe is in custody for the murder of his girlfriend, Tyna Delmay Spivery, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office. Lowe is also accused of shooting and wounding Spivery's 23-year-old sister while she tried to escape.

The sheriff's office says the shooting happened at Spivery's home in the 6500 Block of Kathy Circle in northeast Jefferson County around noon on Sunday. Neighbors said they heard gunshots and cries for help from Spivery's oldest daughter.

After seeing Lowe leave, neighbors rushed to the scene. They say they found the Spivery lying on the floor and later discovered her sister upstairs. They believe the sister tried to escape and ran upstairs where she was shot in the bathroom.

The injured 23-year-old woman was transported to a local hospital. Her condition is not known.

Authorities say Lowe fled the scene of the shooting and was later spotted in Trussville and taken into custody.

Formal charges against Lowe are expected to be filed within 24 hours, Chief Deputy Randy Christian with the sheriff's department said.

A neighbor's surveillance video of the suspect fleeing the scene has been turned over to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.
