Police locate 2 missing children from Leavenworth home

LEAVENWORTH, KS (KCTV) -

Authorities have located two young girls who were reported missing early Sunday morning.

Investigators say 2-year-old Maliyah Danielle Whitmore and 3-year-old Iyannah Raylynn Kime were last seen at 1:30 a.m. inside their Leavenworth home

The girls' mother told police that she came home about midnight, relieving the babysitter.  She called police about 7 a.m. when she discovered that the girls were not home.

Maj. Dan Nicodemus said the children were located about 3:10 p.m. in the custody of a godparent.

Detectives said the person who had the children told police that they picked them up at 2 a.m.

Police are still investigating, trying to figure out exactly what happened.  No other details were immediately available.
