MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

Gas prices are decreasing making the daily commute a little easier especially for people like Michael Davis.

Traveling from Lowndes county to Montgomery 5 days a week, there's a reason why Davis chose to stop at a particular gas station--because gas is $2.99

For the first time in about two years we're seeing signs showing prices under the $3 a gallon mark--good news for those planning to hit the road for the holidays.

"Christmas I'm going on a road trip, I hope it's the same price," Davis said.

Chances are prices will be better. The national average is near $3 a gallon now--the lowest it's been in three years and analysts expect it to drop below $3 by the end of this year.

Michael Green, AAA representative, said that prices are going to continue to fall probably anywhere from .10 to .20 cents per gallon by the end of the year.

With bringing in the holidays, it will certainly help make the ride a little smoother.
