MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) - Residents in a Memphis neighborhood are on high alert after a 14-year-old went missing for a couple of hours.

"That really blows my mind. This really is shocking," stated neighbor Theresa Sanders.

Sanders is surprised because she said she has seen the man police believe abducted the 14-year-old girl.

Action News 5 is not showing the girl's face nor providing her identity.

According to investigators, the teenager was walking home from school when the man abducted her and drove her around the Kingsbury High School neighborhood before she escaped.

"Somebody has been driving here quite a bit the last couple of days in a black Mustang," continued Sanders.

Police described the man's vehicle as an older model of the black Ford Mustang.

Sanders showed Action News 5's Janice Broach where the girls wait for rides after school.

Other neighbors said they have seen the man driving near where the girls wait for school.

Apparently, he speaks to the girls in Spanish. Some girls have been seen walking up to the car and then walking away.

Officials said the 14-year-old does not live in the house on Graham Street where police talked with her. It is not clear if the house is where she went for help. Police took the teenager downtown so they could get more information from her.

Sanders warned the man was clean cut and looked like he was around 35 years old.

"I thought maybe he was trying to pick up one of his relatives or somebody. I didn't know. I will watch a little bit closer," said Sanders.
