DOTHAN, AL (WSFA) -

Multiple agencies, including the Dothan Police Department, Houston County Sheriff's Department and the FBI, are looking for a suspect accused of kidnapping and sexually assaulting two girls and attempting to kidnap a third at Dothan area mobile home parks. The three cases have happened over the last two and a half months.

Authorities started their investigation on Sept. 6 when a young girl sleeping in her bed was abducted from her home in the Garden Estates Trailer Park on Hodgesville Road. The male suspect took the child to an unknown location, sexually assaulted her and then returned her to her home.

Investigators thought they were dealing with an isolated incident until they learned of a second incident on Oct. 4. A young girl sleeping in her bed at a home in the Lavista Trailer Park on Denton Road was grabbed by a man. The suspect was interrupted when the child's father heard her screaming. The unidentified male fled from the scene.

The latest crime happened on Sunday. Around 5 a.m. while a young girl was sleeping in her bed at a home in the Pointe South Mobile Estates, an unidentified man kidnapped her, took her to an undisclosed location to sexually assault her and then returned her to her home.

"Our children no longer live in a safe place and that's just the world we live in," said Ladon Cosby, a parent and resident of Pointe South Mobile Estates. "I hate that it's happening to these families because I can't imagine how they feel knowing they are in their homes, feeling safe and someone wants to come along and take that security away from them."

Police are warning residents to lock their doors and double check to make sure everything is safe and sound.

"Make sure everything is in order, everything is secure. Make it difficult for these types of people to get into your home. Be mindful of your surroundings and the people that are around you," said Sgt. Maurice Eggleston of the Dothan Police Department.

Police believe the man is particularly familiar with and comfortable in Garden Estates Trailer Park on Hodgesville Road.

The only description authorities have released at this point is that they believe the suspect is a light-skinned black or Hispanic male with a short cut hair style and some facial hair.

The man was last seen wearing a dark colored jacket, dark colored pants and brown work boots. Investigators say they believe the person has access to a four-door Nissan passenger car.

Police say the suspect was absent of any home or work obligations or had a reason to be out in the middle of the night on Friday, Sept. 6, Friday, Oct. 4, and Saturday, Nov. 17.

Anyone who has experienced break-ins or attempted break-ins who have not reported them to call the Dothan Police Department at 334-615-3000.

Those looking to help authorities anonymously can call the Crime Stoppers Tip Line at (334) 793-7000 or text the word ‘DACS' and a Tip to CRIME (274637).
