(Toledo News Now) -

The American Red Cross Northwest Ohio Region has provided assistance to hundreds of local families following the tornadoes and storms that struck Sunday. Red Cross staff and volunteers are providing meals, emotional support, connection to community resources, and much more.

CLOVERDALE

The Red Cross continues to provide assistance to families in the Cloverdale community. It's estimated that 137 people are without power and water in the community at this time. More than 230 meals were provided Monday and will continue throughout Tuesday as the need arises.

A shelter was opened late Sunday evening for those affected by the storm at Oak Haven Residential Center, located at 152 Main Street in Cloverdale. It will remain on standby until power has been restored.

LUCAS AND WOOD COUNTY

The Red Cross opened a shelter Monday evening at CedarCreek Church, located at 29129 Lime City Road in Perrysburg. Eight people stayed overnight and received meals, refreshments, and comfort kits. The shelter is on standby until power is restored and may reopen if the need arises.

A combined 50 people in the communities of Jerry City, North Baltimore, Oregon, Perrysburg, and Perrysburg Township have received Red Cross assistance, including 25 adults and 25 children. Immediate Red Cross assistance is based on an individual's needs and typically includes food, clothing, comfort kits, medical or prescription assistance, emotional support and temporary shelter.

Hope Community Church located at 5650 Starr Ave in Oregon is opening a warming center Tuesday and Wednesday for those affected by the storm and power outage. People can stop by between the hours of 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. Refreshments will be provided.

RECOVERY

Support for those affected by the storm doesn't end with basic needs. In the next few days and weeks, Red Cross staff and volunteers will be available to provide additional assistance, such as security deposits or rental assistance.

In the event needs cannot be met by the Red Cross, people will be referred to community partners and agencies who can help meet those needs, such as The Salvation Army, Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, Goodwill, and local churches. Red Cross staff and volunteers will continue to check in and follow-up with affected families during the coming weeks.
