SIMI VALLEY, CA (WIS) - The Holy Bible, Green, Eggs & Ham and Twilight all have something in common at one California store. They're considered works of fiction.
"Costco has Bibles for sale under the genre of FICTION Hmmmm......," Discovery Church pastor Caleb Kaltenbach tweeted on Nov. 15.
Since the discovery, Kaltenbach has appeared on national news outlets to discuss the issue.
"I was surprised that they would label it as fiction," Kaltenbach told Fox News anchor Elisabeth Hasslebeck on Wednesday. "The response has been interesting."
He said some people were offended and others agreed with the store.
"Some people were saying, 'you know what, it is fiction, good for Costco,'" Kaltenbach said.
Costco blamed human error for the apparent mix up. In a statement to Fox News, the wholesale retailer said the distributor had mislabeled a small percentage of Bibles before sending them to the store.
"It probably was a mistake, I have no idea," said Kaltenbach. "I think that Christians in America do need to stand up for their faith. When it comes down to the Bible, either you believe that it's true or it's not true, there are no shades of gray."
