14-year-old MPS student charged with making terrorist threat

Montgomery Public Schools officials say a 14-year-old student has been arrested after admitting to making a threat to McKee Middle School.

According to the school district, the Montgomery fire and police departments responded to the school Tuesday afternoon after the school received a bomb threat.

The 14-year-old boy was questioned by police and charged with making a terrorist threat. He was placed in the Montgomery County Youth Facility.

Interim Superintendent Margaret Allen said in a statement that the school system has no tolerance for this type of activity.

"I am saddened to see a young person make such a terrible mistake," Allen said. "Making a threat against a school is no longer a prank that gets students out of class for a few minutes. It is a serious crime with serious consequences. We will prosecute those who make such threats whether they are students or adults."
