EFFINGHAM CO., GA (WTOC) -

The Effingham County Sheriff's Office said Friday morning that three people were killed in a fiery crash involving a tanker and a pickup truck on Ga. 17 in Marlow.

An autopsy will be conducted Friday at the GBI Crime Lab in Savannah. The ECSO said they know who the victims are, but are unable to make a positive identification until the autopsy. Investigators continue to examine the crash wreckage.

"Preliminary reports show that a Ford Truck struck a tanker truck which was traveling South on Ga. 17 at Marlow Road," Effingham County spokesman David Ehsanipoor said in a statement. "Three bodies have been recovered from the Ford truck to include on of which appears to be a small child," Ehsanipoor said.

No charges are expected to be filed against the tanker truck driver. The crash remains under investigation.

ECSO reminds drivers that Ga. 17 between Bluejay and Midland roads is closed until at least Monday due to damage to the roadway.
