TUCSON, AZ (AP) -

Authorities have identified a pedestrian who was fatally struck by a taxi cab in Tucson while jaywalking.

Tucson police say the victim was 42-year-old Jose A. Pichardo.

Officers responded Tuesday night to a report of a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian near the intersection of Prince Road and Fairview Avenue.

Police say Pichardo was transported to a Tucson hospital, but he died from his injuries shortly after arrival.

The driver of the cab wasn't injured.

Police say Pichardo was struck as he was crossing the street but he wasn't in a crosswalk.

Authorities didn't say if any charges will be filed against the cab driver in the case.
