Police apprehend suspect after extended chase across 2 counties

Posted: Updated:

Angel David Santana Maisonet is behind bars tonight after leading police on a high speed chase and scaring the wits out of residents.

It all began Friday night at the corner of West 32nd and Lorain where police tried to arrest Maisonet for a series of aggravated robberies but he took off westbound at a high rate of speed.

Police in North Ridgeville along with state troopers put down stop sticks which flattened all of the tires on the suspect's vehicle but he kept going, driving on the rims.

On a side note, Cleveland police still do not have stop sticks.

With tires flattened, the chase was no longer high speed but it kept going for miles until Maisonet crashed at the corner of Routes 57 and 83 right next to John Kauffeld's house.

"I seen so many cop cars I couldn't even count them."

At one point 24 officers gave chase.

Maisonet fled again but this time on foot and with one shoe he eluded authorities all night putting residents of the tiny town of Grafton on edge.

The 44-year-old suspect was finally apprehended Saturday morning around 9 a.m.

He was hiding in a barn.
