Springfield man arrested on assault, firearm charges

SPRINGFIELD, MA (WSHM) -

A 30-year-old city man is facing numerous assault and firearm-related charges after being chased down by police early Sunday morning.

CBS 3 media partner Mass Live and The Republican reported that Alexis Laboy threatened two people with a gun in the area of Worthington and Dwight Streets at about 2 a.m.

After police located Laboy in Stearns Square, officers struggled with him as he attempted to pull his gun.

They prevented him from using his semi-automatic handgun.

He will be arraigned in Springfield District Court on Monday.
