For the 31st year, St. Francis will offer SafetyCab during the holiday season in an effort to help reduce the number of DUI-related accidents and fatalities.

Drinking drivers in Columbus, Phenix City and Fort Benning will receive a free ride home from parties, restaurants and bars between 9 p.m. and 2 a.m. from December 1-31.

The purpose of the program is to encourage holiday party-goers to designate a driver who will refrain from drinking alcohol. In the event a designated driver is not available, SafetyCab will provide free transportation home for passengers calling SafetyCab at 706-660-6069.

SafetyCab is coordinated by St. Francis and is co-sponsored this year by B&B Beverage Co., Aflac and TSYS. It is further supported through the efforts of Columbus Ledger-Enquirer, The Bayonet, CBS Outdoor, WTVM-TV9, WXTX-TV Fox54, Q1073, Kissin 99.3, Boomer 95.3, 103.7 Lite FM, News 1420, Ritmo con Sabor 107.7, 106.9 Rocks, South 106, Rock 103, Sunny 100, 98.3 The Beat, Magic 101.3, News Radio AM 540 WDAK, Comedy 1460, 1270 AM WSHE and 88.5 the Truth.

Columbus Emergency Medical Service and police and safety departments in Columbus, Phenix City and Ft. Benning support the program by distributing SafetyCab information to bars, liquor stores and restaurants serving alcoholic beverages.
