BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

Fans who don't already have tickets to Saturday's SEC Championship game may be paying through the nose to get them.

Individual tickets priced from double face value all the way up to $2,000 a ticket were for sale on sites like AAAtix.com, StubHub.com, as well as trading groups on Facebook and Craigslist.

"I've only had one say he was an Alabama fan, but I've got the feeling based on the calls and the way that they're talking, that yes they're all Alabama fans," said Mark, an Auburn fan from Hoover looking for two tickets to the game for he and his son.

Mark says what makes this market more complicated is how much emotion is tied up in one fan base that was expecting to go the game and is now having to sell tickets to fans of their archrival.

"I think the competition between the two has a lot to do with it, there's no doubt. I know it did with one guy I talked to, because he all but hung up on me. He said, 'Well I'd be going if it wasn't for a field goal,' so that oughta tell you something right there."

But for Mark, as for many fans, there is a price limit, even though this could be a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

"It's just the fact of being with my son and doing something like this. To be able to take him, I just want it for him, really. I just want him to enjoy the experience and I get the joy of watching him do that," Mark said.

StubHub.com still has plenty of seats available and there are several pairs of tickets listed on Craigslist groups in both Birmingham and Atlanta.
