MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

Today's the day charities are hoping you'll open up your pocketbooks like you did this past weekend.

It's "giving Tuesday" and there's one local charitable group that's hoping you'll give generously to them. Over the past few days, it's been all about buying...

Black Friday, cyber Monday, and now charities are hoping you'll reach into your wallet for one more day. This time for tradition of generosity.

It's called giving Tuesday.

It's a simple idea. Just find a way for your family, your community, your company or your organization to come together to give something more.

It's a national movement but the central Alabama community foundation here in Montgomery is participating in a big way.

They're asking folks today to donate to the foundation by way of a website.

The money will go to support hundreds of non-profits in our area through grants.

In the past some of the money has gone to projects like common ground of Montgomery, bridge builders, mane, and the Shakespeare festival.

So how can you give today? Go to www.cacfinfo.org. Once you get there you'll click on the donate now button.

Tonight as part of giving Tuesday, they will be handing out over $250-thousand dollars in grants to non-profits in the river region.

The central Alabama community foundation is the largest provider of grants in the river region.

Non-profits are selected on an application basis.
