DOTHAN, AL (WSFA) -

U.S. Senator Jeff Sessions is in the Wiregrass today taking focusing on the economy in the area. Sessions visited one of the newest companies to Dothan, Commercial Jet.

Sessions says aviation is a driving force behind the state's economy and Commercial Jet is a major part of that. Sessions believes aviation will only continue to grow and prosper in Alabama and he plans to do whatever he can to help it happen.

Commercial Jet currently employs more than 115 people and hopes to have 500 employees over the next three years. The company converts passenger planes into cargo planes.

Sessions says like Commercial Jet, the aviation business is going to become even more of a demand as the aviation world expands. He believes Alabama needs to be ready.

"Projections for the next 40 years are for billions and billions of dollars for new aircraft and refurbished aircrafts and will be needed worldwide when the rest of the world will be as air mobile as the United States and Europe," Sessions said. "It has a future that we need Alabama to be a player in."

One area Sessions hopes he can help Commercial Jet grow in is through defense jobs. Company leaders say there is a need for military to use commercial jet services and they are eager to expand if possible.
