A man is dead following a shooting in Geneva County Wednesday evening.
SMITH COUNTY, TX --On December 2, the Smith County Sheriff's Office asked for the public's assistance with locating Wesley Brian McDade, age 36, of Smith County. McDade was wanted for allegedly assaulting his wife at a residence on Highway 155 South last October.
The alert, which was posted on the Sheriff's Office Facebook page, Twitter account and distributed widely through the news media, led to a tip received by the U.S. Marshal's Service as to McDade's possible location at a relative's home in the Lindale area.
This afternoon, McDade was founding hiding under a trailer on the relative's property and was taken into custody without incident. He is currently being booked in to the Smith County Jail on charges of strangulation or suffocation of a family member, which is a Third Degree Felony, and a parole violation relating to a previous assault charge.
The Smith County Sheriff's Office expresses its thanks to the U.S. Marshal's Service, the news media and the public in their assistance with apprehending this individual.
