OPELIKA, AL (WTVM) -

Brandy Cosgriff was shocked to hear a pizza delivery man was robbed at gun point Tuesday evening, just doors down from her home on Vero Ct. in Opelika.

"We try to look out for each other as well, so we are going to keep our eyes out. They'll watch mine and I'll watch theirs," says Cosgriff.

Around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday evening, the victim reported that he was walking up to a residence to deliver a pizza, and found three men sitting on the front porch.

Captain Bruce DeLong of the Opelika Police Department explains, "As he got closer, the three suspects came off the porch and surrounded him. One of the individuals pulled a handgun and demanded his money."

The victim cooperated, but the situation did not end there.

One of the suspects went into the delivery man's car, took his cell phone and threw his keys into a vacant lot next door.

Another suspect patted the victim down, and took more money from his pockets.

All three men ran from the house, leaving the delivery man unharmed.

"Obviously it seems like some type setup, but that is something the investigators will uncover," says DeLong.

The victim described one of the suspects as being about 5'9" and wearing an Alabama sweatshirt. The second suspect was described as 5'10", and the third suspect was wearing dark colored clothing.

Cosgriff has known her neighbors for over 20 years, and they treat each other like family. Now that she has two sons, safety is a priority, and she says she will not rest easy until these men are caught.

"Double precaution is a must, "says Cosgriff. "Our neighborhood is dwindling fast. You have a lot of new people moving in and out at the same time, so we are going to be extra careful when we go out at night, and during the day."

It is unclear at this point whether any of the suspects live at the residence on Vero Ct.

If you have any information about this case, you are urged to contact the Opelika Police Department.
