PAYSON, AZ (CBS5) -

An Arizona man will be sentenced to 20 years in prison in the death of his 7-year-old daughter.

Gila County Attorney's Office spokesman Bradley Beauchamp said Gasoa Balas pleaded guilty Tuesday to second-degree murder, aggravated assault and aggravated driving under the influence.

Chief Deputy Shawn C. Fuller said during Balas' plea deal, he admitted to drunken driving with his daughter in the car on Aug. 1, 2012 in Payson, and assaulting a Payson police officer by driving straight for the officer. The officer, who was on foot, jumped out of the way to prevent being hit.

Authorities said Balas sped off and rolled his car a few miles outside of Payson. His 7-year-old daughter was thrown from the vehicle and died.

As part of a plea agreement, Balas will get 20 years in prison for the murder which will run consecutive to a 12-year term he was sentenced to on Nov. 12 for unrelated aggravated assault.

Balas is scheduled to be sentenced on Dec. 9 in Payson.
