Atlanta, GA (WAFF) -

A Florence student won a scholarship from Dr Pepper during Saturday's SEC Championship Game.

Brooks Bergman, a Mars Hill Bible School student, was selected to compete for a $100,000 scholarship at the game. Bergman submitted a video to the season-long Dr Pepper Tuition Giveaway explaining why he deserved to win the college tuition.

Bergman hopes to pursue a degree in pre-med in order to further his dreams of being a hematologist/oncologist. When Bergman was eleven, he finished treatment for leukemia and was cured, and he wants to help others.

Bergman and one other finalist threw footballs from five yards away into a hole in a large Dr Pepper can replica during the SEC Championship Game's halftime. Bergman successfully completed the most throws in 30 seconds, winning the grand prize scholarship of $100,000.
