SPRINGFIELD, MA (WSHM) -

Springfield police say a man was shot in a parking lot on Hancock Street Monday night.

The man went to a local hospital and police are not releasing his condition.

There is no active shooter in the area but police have blocked off Hancock street near the "Hill Homes Housing Complex" on the 400 block of the street as a precaution.

Police are asking people to stay out of that area.
