$200k in damages after Mason house fire

MASON, OH (FOX19) -

Emergency crews battled a house fire early Tuesday morning in Mason.

It was reported in the 4700 block of Carriage Drive at about 4:45 a.m. Upon arrival, firefighters found flames coming out of windows in the garage. Authorities say the fire was contained to the garage and a room above it, both of which received extensive damage.

A kitchen adjacent to the garage was also badly damaged. According to Mason officials, the remainder of the house had smoke and heat damage.

Damage to the home is estimated at $200,000.

One family member received minor injuries and was treated at the scene. The American Red Cross was called to assist the family of five.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
