MADISON COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

Icy conditions on highways and elevated roadways Wednesday morning caused traffic problems for drivers.

A vehicle hit an icy patch on I-565 on Chapman Mountain around 3:30 Wednesday morning. It ended up in a ditch. There's no word on the driver's condition.

Huntsville police said elevated portions of I-565 from Oakwood Avenue to Memorial Parkway also had icy spots.

Police urged commuters to drive with caution especially in elevated areas and bridges.
