JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL (WBRC) -

Jefferson County authorities are looking for the suspects they say kidnapped and robbed a pharmaceutical courier who was delivering drugs to a Pinson pharmacy on Tuesday.

The victim told deputies he was dropping off drugs at the Rite Aid off of Center Point Road around 10:30 a.m. yesterday when two armed suspects approached him in the parking lot. The suspects tied him up with zip ties and put him in the back of the delivery van, Chief Deputy Randy Christian said.

The suspects then drove the delivery van to a vacant house off of Highway 75 on North Road while another suspect followed in an SUV. Deputies believe they are looking for three, possibly four, suspects in connection to the kidnapping and robbery.

The suspects brought the victim inside the empty house and covered his face with a toboggan. They left him inside the house while they moved the drugs from the delivery van into a red SUV, then fled the scene.

Officials said the man was able to call 911 on his cell phone even with his hands tied behind his back. Deputies responded to the scene but did not find the suspects. The victim in the case was not hurt during the incident.

Authorities have not released the amount or type of drugs that were stolen from the delivery van.

The investigation is ongoing. Deputies are asking anyone with information about the case to contact the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office at 205-325-1459 or Crime Stoppers at 205-254-7777.
