MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

Investigators with the Montgomery Police Department say the victim who was shot in the back Wednesday evening is now in stable condition at an area hospital.

The shooting happened in the 1800 block of Gibbs Drive. Witnesses say the man was shot near the sidewalk area outside the Gibbs Village housing community.

The victim, who is not identified, was shot in the back and was in life-threatening condition when he arrived at the hospital. His condition improved overnight.

No motive has been given in regards to the shooting and there have been no arrests or suspects named in the case.

The shooting remains under investigation.
