BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

The Greater Birmingham Humane Society is hoping their shelter will be silent Christmas night. They're launching a campaign to have every pet in an adoptive or foster home by Dec. 24.

"The holidays are a stressful time for people but they are also a stressful time for pets," Karen Peterlin, GBHS Executive Director, said. "If we can get our pets...with a new family, even if it's just temporary, they can have a happy holiday as well."

If you aren't able to foster or adopt a pet, the GBHS is also taking monetary donations. You can give online at www.gbhs.org or through one of the giving trees, located at Brookwood Village Mall, Full Circle Boutique and Generation Dog.
