COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

A suspect is on the run after breaking into a home and assaulting a resident yesterday evening, Dec. 14.

Police say the male suspect entered the home on Vultee Dr. using a 4-way lug wrench to get into the back door. The suspect then struck the victim in the head with the wrench.

The woman fought off the attacker with the help of her dog. The suspect then fled the scene.

The suspect is described as a white male around 16 to 19-years-old, about 5'6" to 5'8" with a scruffy face. He was reportedly wearing a gray hooded jacket, and blue jeans.

Anyone with information that could lead to the location of the suspect should contact Columbus Police Department.
