ASHVILLE, AL (WBRC) -

St. Clair County authorities say a juvenile son shot his mother to death in Ashville on Friday.

Carolyn Marie Browning, 52, was shot in the head at her home on Maverick Drive on Friday, Dec. 13. Officials say Browning's son is accused of her murder. Authorities have not released his name because he is a juvenile.

If the son is charged as an adult in Browning's death, his name and charges will be released. Officials say Browning and her son were the only people inside the house.

The St. Clair County Sheriff's department responded to a call of a shooting around 5:40 p.m. Browning was pronounced dead on the scene at 6:01 p.m.

Browning's body will undergo an autopsy at the forensics lab in Hunstville.

The St. Clair County Sheriff's department is leading the investigation. Check back with this story for updates.
