BYRAM, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A Terry man died after a wreck in Byram that occurred Saturday night.

Tim Campbell, 47, died Sunday morning at University Medical Center in Jackson. Campbell's son, Ryan Nelson, 31, was a passenger in the vehicle.

James Callender, brother-in-law to the victim, said "Ryan is at UMC and he's in stable condition. He has some broken ribs and one punctured his lung."

The accident occurred around 10 p.m. Saturday night in the 11 thousand block of Springridge Road in Byram.

Officials at the scene said Campbell lost control of the blue Mazda he was driving and hit a telephone pole on the driver's side.

Byram Police and fire officials had to take the car apart to pull the driver out.

Campbell was transported via AirCare to UMC.

"The family appreciates the medical response to the wreck and great response from UMC," Callender added.

Our newscrew on the scene saw downed power lines and was told electricity was out at nearby residences.
