MOUNT PLEASANT, TX (KLTV) -

Country music legend Ray Price, who has been battling cancer at his Mount Pleasant, TX home, is still alive, according to his wife, Janie.

In a post Sunday on her Facebook page at 4:17 p.m. CST, Price's wife indicated that her husband was still alive. She also said that, at the time of his passing, a statement would be issued.

At 7:10 p.m. CST, family friend Bill Mack posted on his Facebook page that he had spoken to Janie Price, who told him that Ray was still alive, but fading from the cancer. Mack also said that he had spoken to Willie Nelson, who performed with Ray Price. Nelson told Mack, "I'll bet Ray is laughing... although he's a bit sleepy."

Mack posted again at 8:00 p.m. to say that Ray was still alive.

Janie Price posted on her Facebook page at 8:35 on Sunday evening to say that fellow country singers Willie Nelson and Larry Gatlin called and Janie put the phone to Ray's ear so they could tell him they loved him. The post said Johnny Bush, another country singer, called as well.

Early Monday morning, Virgie Phillips posted a message thanking fans and friends for their prayers and support. "Janie continues her constant vigil holding Ray's hand at his bedside despite our urging her to get some rest."

Mack provided another update at 11:30 a.m. Monday saying that, although Price's condition continues to decline, he is still living. Mack added that the family appreciates all the prayers and concern for Ray.

Multiple media outlets had reported on Sunday that Price died early Sunday afternoon.

We will continue to provide updates as they become available.

In a final message to his fans released on Thursday, Price said, "I love my fans and have devoted my life to reaching out to them. I appreciate their support all these years and I hope I haven't let them down. I am at peace. I love Jesus. I'm going to be just fine. Don't worry about me. I'll see you again one day."

Fans may leave the Price family a note on their Facebook page or by sending a card to: Ray Price, P.O. Box 1986, Mt. Pleasant, TX 75456.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Price family during this difficult time.
