TROY,AL (WBRC) - A linebacker with the Troy University football team has been charged with murder.  Troy Police report that  21 year old Dimitri Miles of La Fayette, Georgia shot and killed 26 year old Marquise Jermaine McClendon of Troy early Sunday morning in the 400 block of South Brundidge Street.

McClendon was transported to Troy Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. After an investigation, police obtained a felony warrant for murder against Miles.  Miles is being held in the Pike County Jail.  His bond has been set for one hundred thousand dollars.

The Troy Athletics Department released a statement saying Miles has been suspended
from Troy University.  According to the University's website and roster, Miles attended high school in Birmingham.
