ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

A non-profit organization distributes hundreds of pairs of athletic shoes to some Albany elementary students. The HEART organization distributed 100 pairs of shoes to students at Jackson Heights Elementary school Monday.

The students received Under Armour tennis shoes. The Proctor and Gamble Corporate Foundation donated to the organization's Christmas distribution. So far this year they will have distributed 900 pairs of shoes to students in Dougherty County.

"We want to make sure a good pair of shoes will feel good on their feet and especially at this time of year it fits just them. So some of these children will actually put their shoes under the Christmas tree we hope," said Anne Johnson Milledge.

The HEART organization also distributed shoes to Turner Elementary Monday. They'll be distributing shoes Tuesday at Northside Elementary and Alice Coachman Elementary School.      They've distributed 2300 pairs of brand new shoes to people in the community since 2009. You can send contributions to P.O. Box 4433 Albany, Ga 31706 or give them a call at 229-883-0200. For more information click here.
