ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Have you mailed those Christmas packages to loved ones you won't see on Christmas? Monday December 16th was the busiest day of the year for getting presents shipped to friends and loved ones.

Christmas is just over a week away, and it will get more expensive to mail a package as the 25th draws closer. Donnie Lovvorn is the owner of two UPS stores he says: "Later on you are gonna have to do air because the distance and where it's going cuz there's a delay on times. But guaranteed it's still good till December 24th if you are willing to pay the price" Lovvorn also says the ground deadline for Christmas guarantee to the west coast was last Thursday. And says the UPS drivers picked up a lot of packages today."Probably gave them 150 to 200 packages today at this location the other location about 100 so it's a busy, busy day."

Post office shipping deadlines also vary. "Postmaster Ron Bradley says: "Friday of this week will be the last day for regular first class mail. Saturday must go priority and Monday it's express, that's it" Even though Bradley is a postmaster he calls himself a procrastinator in getting his packages out to all the kids and grand kids. and he's not the only one.

Ivory Toomer says many times she is late. "Last minute especially this year, last minute."

You can ensure your trip to the post office is quick and easy by packing, taping and labeling your boxes before you get there. Ron Bradley says "We need them ready to roll when they come in."

The post office also suggests checking on line as to what the aviation restrictions on products are such as perfumes and lithium batteries. You can also find dimension and pound restrictions on U.S.P.S. Web site as well as hours of operations.
