ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

"See, we've got some beautiful romaine lettuce, look at that, it is delicious looking, isn't it?"

The Albany Parks and Rec and health department put together a community garden for  visitors at the Jackson Heights Wellness Center to remind them about the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

"This is the time of year that most of us kind of slip in our diet and exercise patterns," Albany Parks and Rec Marketing Coordinator Kristin Caso said.

Caso along with other members of Parks and Rec will be hosting a special women's fitness event called "A Night of Fun," to promote health awareness. An Albany YMCA instructor will be in attendance to teach women how to get some of the most effective workouts from strength training and cardio kickboxing, including information on how to reach personal goals.

"I can learn something every time I come," Caso shares. " I enjoy seeing a lot of the same people but of course we'd love to have new people show up."

She feels there's something for everyone to participate in regardless of physical ability.

"Come dressed and exercise, okay, wear your gym clothes and your tennis shows cause you're gonna need it."

Hoping to make these workouts into lifelong habits.

A Night of Fun: Women Only event takes place Tuesday at 5:30pm at the Jackson Heights Fitness and Wellness Center located in Albany. An optional Christmas gift exchange will also be available (maximum of 5 dollars) related to fitness.@
