PRATTVILLE, AL (WSFA) -

The city of Prattville will continue the program of recycling Christmas trees for the 4th year in a row.

"This service will benefit our community in multiple ways," said Mayor Bill Gillespie Jr. "Not only will citizens be able to dispose of their trees in an eco-friendly way, but it will also serve to decrease the amount of debris hauled to the landfill. We are very fortunate to have such a great relationship with Alabama Power and Asplundh."

The service is being provided to the public free of charge. All recycled material will be utilized by the Urban Management Department in mulching the landscaping around the city during the coming year.

The Christmas tree drop-off location is the Recycling Center located at 122 Ridgewood Road across from Mac Gray Park. Tree collection days will be Wednesday, December 26th, 2013 through Saturday, January 11th 2014 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., which are normal Recycling Center Hours ( Monday through Saturday each week.

Trees must be free of all lights, ornaments, tinsel and any other decoration.
