FLORENCE, AL (WAFF) -

A Lauderdale County judge sentenced Autumn Wood to 126 months in prison for the 2012 stabbing death of another teen.

Wood killed 14-year-old Brooklyn Hollins at a house party in Florence. She faced a murder charged, but pleaded guilty to manslaughter in November.

Wood's attorney said she took the deal to avoid a much harsher sentence by going to trial.

Prosecutors asked for a 10.5 year sentence. The judge signed off on that request Thursday morning. Wood will get credit for three days served in jail.

The victim's mother addressed the court during the hearing. With tears in her eyes, Brooklyn's mother talked about what life has been like without her daughter. She told Wood she didn't deserve to die, and hoped Wood remembers the look on Brooklyn's face the night she did.

She went on to say she hoped Wood "rots in hell" and then wished her a merry Christmas.

Wood told Brooklyn's mother that she was sorry and hopes she'll be able to forgive her.

Wood's family is asking for forgiveness and prayers for everyone involved.

"As a family we are truly sorry for what happened; it can't be undone. Forgiveness is the way we need to look at this on both sides. God forgives and in this case there needs to be forgiveness," said Wood's uncle, John Nicholson.

District Attorney Chris Connolly said the judge sentenced Wood according to the plea agreement and is pleased she's being held accountable for her actions.

"We spent a lot of time with the family before we made that agreement and they were in support of any agreement that would ensure penitentiary time because we wanted to make sure she's held accountable for her actions and that she went into the prison system," he said.

Wood will be transferred from the Lauderdale County Detention Center to the Tutwiler Women's Prison in the coming weeks.
