NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Metro police are investigating a shooting that left two people injured, including one critically, Thursday afternoon in north Nashville.

The shooting was reported about 3 p.m. in the 1600 block of Underwood Street near 21st Avenue North.

Witnesses told police two men approached 23-year-old Antonio Mitchell and 19-year-old Devontae Blackwell and started shooting.

Mitchell was struck and critically injured, while Blackwell was shot in the hand.

The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.

An officer who was responding to the shooting call in a marked Metro police cruiser crashed on Jefferson Street near 9th Avenue North. The officer was not hurt, and another person suffered minor injuries.
