FITZGERALD, GA (WALB) -

The attorney for the Hospital Authority of Ben Hill County is speaking out about Phoebe's and Dorminy Medical management agreement.

Last week, Phoebe Putney Health Systems announced they will no longer manage Dorminy Medical Center in Fitzgerald.

The attorney for the Hospital Authority of Ben Hill County says the agreement for Phoebe to stop managing Dorminy Medical was not mutual.

John Croley says there were no specific reason given for the dissolution of management, and the Hospital Authority that owns Dorminy Medical has filed a breach of contract lawsuit.

"They spoke for us out of turn," said John Croley. "We never agreed for them to depart. They unilaterally departed."

" I assure the citizens Ben Hill County, that we're going to do everything we can to maintain the highest healthcare service and emergency service that we possibly can. That's the county's role," said Ben Hill County Administrator Frank Feild.

Croley says they are exploring other management options and they have given Phoebe Putney Health Systems an open ended amount of time to respond to the lawsuit.
