WESTFIELD, MA (WSHM) -

A pair of secret Santas made Thursday bright for some Walmart customers in Westfield.

A store employee working at the layaway counter said two people approached the counter and said they wanted to pay off some layaway purchases for complete strangers. She said their stipulation was the layaway had to be children's toys only.

Five tickets totaling nearly $1,000 were selected and paid in full.

Store manager Scott Ring said he began making phone calls to tell the customers they could come pick up their layaway purchases. The first customer he called was Jennifer Boccelli of Manchester, CT.

She arrived at the store around noon and promptly paid off someone else's layaway. With the help of the store manager, she called the customer and told her the items she had on layaway were ready to be picked up.

Ring said these acts of kindness really gave his fellow Walmart employees a big moral boost. He said he had heard of others doing this, but this was the first time it had happened at a store where he worked.
