GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) -

Gulfport Police are asking for your help locating a wanted man. Police Chief Leonard Papania said that Larry Jerome Poole, 28, is wanted for aggravated domestic assault.

Papania said that on Friday, December 13, police responded to a domestic disturbance situation on South Carolina Avenue. According to authorities, Poole was engaged in a verbal altercation with his wife. The situation turned physical and officials say Poole's wife fled the residence. That is when Pool allegedly fired a shot from an unknown type of handgun that struck his wife in the leg.

Papania said that the woman was transported to the hospital where she was treated for a non-life threatening gunshot wound.

Officials described Poole as a black male weighing about 165 pounds and standing 6 feet tall.

Anyone with information about Poole's whereabouts is urged to contact the Gulfport Police Department at 228-868-5959, or go to the "Do You Know Me?" section of their website at www.gulfport-ms.gov/police/doyouknowme.html. You may also contact Crime Stoppers at 877-787-5898.
