BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

A former Birmingham mayor's aide has pleaded guilty to money laundering.

Kenneth Crittenden was arrested in October and charged with helping a cocaine and heroin drug ring launder money through buying cars titled to his private business "E-Z Autos."

Crittenden worked as an administrative assistant to Bell, dealing mainly with the Birmingham Crossplex. He was fired after pleading not guilty to money laundering.

Crittenden's attorney Jonathan Cross tells FOX6 News that his client, who remains free on bond, faces up to 20 years in prison. Cross expects a sentencing hearing to be scheduled in three to four months.

Cross adds that Crittenden did not enter into a plea agreement with federal prosecutors.
