MADISON COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

600 families in Madison County received an early Christmas gift from their county commissioner Thursday.

Bob Harrison represents District Six. Every year, he helps feed families for a week during the holidays. This year, the Holiday Food Share Project reached hundreds of pre-selected families.

"To feed hungry people is definitely the most gratifying thing I've ever done in my life," Harrison said.

The food for the boxes comes from the Department of Agriculture and a community garden at Alabama A&M University.
