Salvation Army reaches toy goal

The Augusta Salvation Army is thanking the community for helping out during their toy drive.

Days ago the organization took to social media in desperate need of toys for children ages 9-12 and they said the community responded rather quickly.

Their warehouse on Wrightsboro Rd. was filled with toys for children of all ages and volunteers were working to prepare them for distribution

"This community came to the plate and has helped us and we have 7 children left to fill and hopefully we will be able to do that and be done and distribute toys tomorrow," said Major Tony Perez of the Augusta Salvation Army.

Major Perez also said they will be giving out toys to nearly 1700 children and their families tomorrow.
