BLUFFTON, SC (WTOC) -

U.S Representative Mark Sanford of South Carolina held his neighborhood office hours Thursday.

People took their questions and concerns to him at the Farmers Market of Bluffton.

Sanford explained why being available is so important.

"You sort of move around, just trying to catch up again with folks in their local communities because what I have found is that if you can visit with somebody in their back yard, they will give you a much clearer picture of what they think then if they've got to come see you," said Sanford.

They also discussed immigration, real estate taxes, the budget deal and the debt ceiling.
