CHEROKEE COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

A mother, her toddler, and a police officer are dead after a two-car crash in Cherokee County.

The wreck happened on Highway 35 near Gaylesville, Friday afternoon.

Troopers said Charity Brewster and her two-year-old son were killed when their car went off the road.

According to authorities, Brewster lost control of the car and hit another vehicle driven by Centre Police Officer Jeffrey Bryant. He was also killed in the crash.

Troopers continue to investigate.
